Growing up, Westin had an interest in athletics (particularly football, baseball, and basketball) but was always a bit on the heavier side. In high school, he decided to improve his fitness at a local health club and discovered a passion for running. To everyone's surprise, Westin joined track and field and then cross-country, eventually competing at the state championship level. As a junior, he broke the 10-minute 2-mile barrier - an accomplishment that was put to fruition by his dedication and hard work. Not only had his body composition changed but also the way he viewed himself and how he set goals.
Westin found CrossFit in the winter of 2013. After training almost two years, he decided to get his CrossFit Level 1 certification to share his passion for personal growth and physical improvement and to help to people challenge themselves by pushing past their comfort zones. To him, CrossFit presents an entirely different outlook on fitness. What he loves most is the community, confidence, and perspective it brings to anyone who enters the gym. He strives to be a positive influence both in and outside of the gym.
CrossFit is more than a workout. It's a philosophy that provides the tools for a healthier body and mind in an atmosphere to help push your limits. At our gym, it's about the guts and glory at every level.
