When did you start CrossFit?
In August 2015, with the Catalyst class. I joined after taking my granddaughters to their CrossFit Kid classes.
What is your favorite part about CrossFit?
The warm up/stretching, and also visiting with other members and staff. I love socializing! The friendships are a major part.
Favorite workout and/or movement/exercise/lift?
Ball slams are my favorite.
How has CrossFit helped/affected your life out side the gym?
CrossFit has given me more energy, strength, and endurance to go on hikes. I love that I can keep up with my granddaughters.
What is your proudest CrossFit related moment?
I was fit enough to complete a 5k Electric Run last fall with my family.
What are your future CrossFit goals?
I would like to lose my holiday weight and eventually move to the "big kid" class. I would also like to increase my flexibility in movements and in life.
If someone new wanted to join, what advice would you give them?
The gym members and staff are always supportive and encouraging. Do not give up even if you can't get up from the toilet because of squats. It gets easier and you will feel so much better. Keep trying; talk to your trainers and let them know how you feel. They have amazing techniques and modifications that will make you successful with the exercises. Listen to your body.
Thank you to all of the CrossFit trainers for all the continued support and encouragement. You have made working out fun and this is something I look forward to. It's easy to say, "I'm not going today, I'll go next time." But then I know the other members and trainers are there waiting, it's motivation to go. So, thank you!
Thank you to my family for always being there to remind me of how important it is to be healthy and fit. If I want to dance with my granddaughters at their weddings, I need to take care of myself now.
